Through sculptural installations and constructions, I explore the engagements within public and private spaces. They entice people into social interactions or commentary. In these constructed situations, a relatable yet challenging place is created where comfort and discomfort, isolation and community, reflection and loquaciousness can simultaneously occur. Through the development of unique environments, I hope to raise questions about how our present western society engages within itself or within site-specific or public spaces. I am interested in why current patterns of behavior exist on both individual as well as civic levels. The resulting actions of my art are not as important as the opportunities that the space or construction provides to viewers and participants. .
